Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Questers and Planners tables.

Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
