In a bizarre partnership that challenges usual expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Uncovered

According to the authorized release, "An unusual encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of prohibited rituals and monstrous transformations echo through the shadows." The plot features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine group.

The questline focuses on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Iconic Locations and Changes

The teaser highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Extra Material

Players who finish the mission will receive an exclusive katana together with several artifacts secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Update

This update also brings the game's latest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations

This signifies not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that clearly echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
